Blends history, emotions, passion, patriotism, and action with finesse... #VickyKaushal is terrific, cementing his stature as one of the finest actors of his generation... #LaxmanUtekar triumphs as a storyteller.
Chhaava has garnered various public reviews since it's first show on the release day. From performing a milk abhishek on the film’s poster to entering the theatre riding a horse and dressed as Sambhaji Maharaj himself, the fans gave an overwhelming reaction to Vicky's powerful performance as Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Empire.
The film has shown the historical significance and valour of the Maratha dynasty and how they battled against the Mughal empire under the leadership of Sambhahji Maharaj. In Pune, the film achieved the highest occupancy rate at 58.75%, reflecting the local community's strong connection to the Maratha heritage.
Social media sparked conversations regarding how this movie speaks to those who believe that India's history has been selectively narrated, typically glorifying Mughal hegemony in stereotypical Bollywood films instead of Indian heroes who reshaped our country's glory.
Chhaava has rewritten history and proved that more historical films should be made to honour unsung heroes of our country and ensure their legacy reaches future generations.
