It has now been confirmed that the game will be launched on May 26, 2026. Later than you expected on that, of course, and noted that interest and excitement regarding the next game are truly humbling for everyone involved, and thank you for the continued support and patience in its brief official press release on the matter.
Rockstar Games said, “We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game. With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve. We look forward to sharing more information with you soon.”
Why is the GTA 6 release delayed?
According to CEO Strauss Zelnick, he agrees with Rockstar Games taking extra time to complete GTA 6. His belief says that the loss of time will help greater game delivery experience and long-term value for both players and investor.
According to Zelnick, "We support fully Rockstar Games taking additional time to realize their creative vision for Grand Theft Auto VI, which promises to be a groundbreaking, blockbuster entertainment experience that exceeds audience expectations."
