Hello everyone! Here are some things to consider if you're trying to decide between starting a blog or YouTube channel.
Obvious Answer
Do what you're more comfortable with. If you're comfy in front of a camera, or have good speaking skills, make a video. If you like to write, are articulate on paper and/or are camera-shy, start writing some blog articles.
Goals
Are you doing this for fun, as a hobby, or professionally?
If you're doing this for fun, or to get away from work, just do what makes you happy and don't worry too much about the medium or result.
If you're doing this as a hobby, to see where it goes, maybe turn this into an extra source of income later on, think of it as a learning opportunity. Both are skills you get better at over time. Challenge yourself, do what you want to learn or get better at.
If you're doing this professionally, consider all important business-ey factors to make a logical decision.
Audience
Where is most of your audience? Who do they consider subject matter experts - YouTubers or published authors?
Niche
What's the best medium of communication for your subject matter? What would do it justice? (It's okay to answer both). Would it be faster to consume your content in the form of an article or a video?
Try Both
Simply try both and catch your audience wherever they are. Some people like to watch videos, some like to read, some are on YouTube, some on Google, some on Pinterest etc. So spend time if you can to make articles as well as videos and see what you get more engagement with. Ask yourself what feels like a good use of your time and what work are you most proud of.
If still confused, simply hit the publish button on Thoxt and start publishing, add a short video and connect with your audience.
Happy publishing!
