Neha Kakkar is the most followed singer on Instagram in India, and when a video of her concert in Melbourne surfaced on social media, where she was seen crying, it stirred up a lot of views. The singer arrived at the concert three hours late and was booed and criticized by the audience. Later, the singer was seen shedding tears on stage while performing.
Neha said, “You have been sweet and patient itni der se aap log wait kar rahe ho (you have been waiting for so long). I hate it. Maine life mein kabhi kisi ko wait nahi karwaya (I've never made anyone wait in my entire life).” She further assured the audience that she would make them all dance.
After the post went viral, Neha's brother-cum-singer and musician, Tony Kakkar shared two cryptic posts on social media right after these videos became viral.
Tony raised questions on the Public
On his Instagram, Tony Kakkar shared an interesting post, one line of which read, Artists should stay within limits, but what about the public? Although Tony has not referenced any incident in the post, it was quite obviously a dig at the Melbourne audience.
The Second Post
He uploaded an image quite similar to his last post on Instagram where he once again stated a hypothetical situation and questioned who would be held responsible when one is invited to visit a place with no prior arrangements made during the invitation. 'Suppose I invite you to an event in my city and take full responsibility for the arrangements on myself. Booking your hotel, car, picking you up from the airport, and a ticket. Now imagine that when you reach there, you find that nothing is booked. There is no car to receive you at the airport, no hotel is booked and no ticket. Who should be blamed in such a situation?' wrote the singer-composer.
Audience Reaction: Mixed Opinions
Many fans who paid high ticket prices were upset by Neha’s late arrival. Some took to social media to share their frustration, calling her delay unprofessional. However, others defended her, saying that unexpected issues are common at big events. Some netizens commented, "The truth is out! It was the promoter’s fault—no proper arrangements, no backstage setup, and they didn’t even show up! Neha Kakkar still went on stage for her fans. RESPECT HER!" while another person commented, "Is your sister a child, is her management team has no responsibility to cross check everything. Stop playing the victim card and accept if a mistake is made and apologize to the crowd. Next time work in advance to get all things done. You guys are representing indian, is this the way you want India to be represented?".
The Pressure of Live Performances
Neha Kakkar entertains with her performances and hits like "Dilbar" and "Garmi." With a strong fanbase, Neha keeps performing her concerts around the globe. This incident may have shown how pressurized the artist gets when things go wrong.
While fans would want performers to be timely, performers, on the other hand, assume that organizers will make everything else work. Transportation, sound checks, and schedule delays can further aggravate issues that are all beyond the control of performing artists. These delays have to do with what people say is the need for better coordination within the industry to avoid these types of troubles in the future.
