I cannot thank my dad enough. If he hadn't picked me up from tuition that day and spontaneously taken me to Eden Gardens, I might never have discovered the magic of cricket. At first, I was just curiously watching the players, the crowd, and the energy on the ground. But over time, I began to understand the game and slowly fell deeply in love with cricket.

Cricket has always been more than just a game to me. It's an emotion that resonates deeply within my soul. It's the thrill of anticipation before every match, the heartache of losing the game by close margins, the happiness of a hard fought victory, idolizing the stalwarts and getting inspired by them on and off the fields.

On 12th May, the Indian batting legend Virat Kohli bid farewell to red ball cricket, shattering the hearts and hopes of millions of Indians including me.

As a fan girl who grew up watching you dominate the cricketing world, your retirements feel personal. The thought of not seeing my favourite cricketer in my most favourite format of cricket is overwhelming. Virat, you have no idea that you have been my source of countless joyful memories.

From your debut in 2011 to becoming India's fourth-highest run-scorer with 9,230 runs, your journey was nothing short of legendary. Your fierceness, commitment and passion set new standards for Indian cricket. Even in challenging times, like the recent tour to Australia, you showed what determination is. You taught me the value of 3Ds- Determination, Dedication and Discipline.

But beyond the records and accolades, it's the camaraderie you shared with your teammates that touched me the most. The #brocode between you and Rohit, who has also announced his retirement in June, inspired countless fans like me. Witnessing you both side by side, leading India in the field of cricket was a sight of true bhaichara.

It feels like somehow we are losing a part of our childhood as we are waving goodbye to our legends and slowly growing up as time passes by. The field might miss your presence, but your legacy will continue to inspire generations. Thank you for the unforgettable moments, the lessons of resilience, and the pride you've brought to our nation.
