London Protest Outside US Embassy Demands End to Attacks on Iran
Protesters outside the US Embassy in London urge an end to attacks on Iran, calling for de-escalation and UK-led diplomacy.
Thousands gathered outside the US Embassy in London, waving Iranian and Palestinian flags and chanting 'Stop the bombing now' as they called for an end to attacks on Iran. The demonstration was backed by groups including the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), Stop the War Coalition and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
Speaking to the crowd, MP Zarah Sultana said: "We cannot continue acting as the poodle of the United States." She argued the UK must chart its own course on foreign policy and urged politicians to pursue diplomacy over military action.
The protest comes after a decision by Sir Keir Starmer that allowed UK bases, including the Diego Garcia site and RAF Fairford, to be used for US defensive strikes targeting Iran-threatened countries. Demonstrators said such moves risk spiraling regional tensions and civilian harm.
Organisers noted that thousands marched through central London, carrying banners and portraits, while chants and speeches underscored a call for de-escalation and a shift toward diplomacy.
While crowd energy remained steady, participants emphasized that peaceful, lawful protest aims to influence policy and highlight public opposition to widening war in the region.
