CBSE unveils a multi-stage post-result process for Class 12, detailing scanned copies, verification, and re-evaluation with revised fees.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has rolled out a multi-stage post-result process for Class 12 after the board announced results on May 13. This year, the evaluation also involved an On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, which the board says aims to improve transparency in how papers are assessed.
Under the revised process, the first stage lets students obtain scanned copies of their evaluated answer books. Applications for these scanned copies will remain open from 19 May to 22 May. After reviewing the copies, students may then apply for verification of marks and, if needed, re-evaluation of specific answers. The verification and re-evaluation window runs from 26 May to 29 May.
A revised fee structure accompanies the post-result services: ₹700 per subject for a scanned copy of the evaluated answer book, ₹500 per subject for verification of marks, and ₹100 per question for re-evaluation. The board emphasizes that the post-result process is designed to enhance transparency and allow students to understand how their papers were assessed. It also notes that minor errors can occur when handling a massive volume of answer scripts each year, which numbered around 1.25 crore during evaluation.
Some students expressed confusion over portal timings for accessing answer sheets and applying for post-result services. The board clarified that the scanned-copy window and the re-evaluation window operate as separate steps, with the latter opening from 26 May to 29 May. Students are advised to follow the separate timelines to ensure their requests are submitted correctly.
Overall, the new process aims to reduce surprises by giving students a clear, staged path to review their marks, while maintaining the integrity and speed of the evaluation system. Students should plan ahead, review their copies carefully, and use the verification and re-evaluation options if discrepancies are found.
