Schools that had already scheduled examinations may proceed with them as per the pre-decided timetable.
The Basic Siksha Adhikari, Dr. Vinita, said the orange alert for dense fog issued by the meteorological department will be in effect for the next three days, and cold winds from the hills are likely to aggravate the situation. Authorities emphasized that the closure applies to classes up to 8, while higher classes and examinations not affected by the order may continue as planned. The administration warned of strict action against any school found violating the directive.

Tuesday, December 16, was noted as the coldest day in the district in the last decade, with the maximum temperature dropping to 16.3 degrees Celsius. People have been advised to limit travel to essential needs and to take special care of children and the elderly as the cold spell shows no immediate relief.
