The Karnataka government's initiative offering a 50% concession on pending traffic e-challan cases has seen an overwhelming response, leading to the settlement of over 5.54 lakh violations and the collection of more than ₹16.64 crore in revenue.
This significant scheme, which commenced on June 21, 2026, aims to clear the substantial backlog of unpaid e-challans across the state. According to traffic police, from June 21 to July 3, 2026, a total of 5,54,890 traffic violation cases were successfully resolved through various payment methods. The department managed to collect precisely ₹16,64,53,950 in fines during this period.
The initiative was specifically designed to encourage motorists to settle their long-pending traffic dues while simultaneously reducing the administrative burden of numerous outstanding challans. Police officials have expressed satisfaction with the public's enthusiastic participation, noting that lakhs of vehicle owners have already seized the opportunity to take advantage of the concession.
Authorities are continuing to urge all vehicle owners with pending e-challans to utilize this limited-time concession and clear their outstanding fines within the stipulated period.
