The discussions are being watched closely in Bengaluru and New Delhi alike as a reshuffle is seen by some as a way to consolidate leadership amid a ongoing power-sharing debate with Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
Home Minister G. Parameshwara has tried to dash expectations, saying that leadership changes are not on the table in the event of a reshuffle, a line meant to calm jitters among party workers. Still, Shivakumar, when asked about the issue, struck a deflective note, telling reporters in Delhi that he is a loyal party worker who has worked hard for the organization and will continue to do so.
The reshuffle chatter gained traction after Karnataka’s electoral setback in Bihar, with insiders noting that the so-called power-sharing formula between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar had cooled but not disappeared. Inside the party, several senior legislators and some first-timers are reportedly eyeing ministry berths if a reshuffle occurs, according to sources close to the Chief Minister.
While the exact list of portfolios and ministers remains uncertain, discussions are expected to crystallize after the Monday meeting with Kharge. Reports suggest that 10 to 12 ministers could be replaced, but officials say the final details will be revealed only after formal cues from the high command. Shivakumar indicated that if summoned, he would go to Delhi to discuss dates and modalities with the party leadership, underscoring the seriousness of the maneuvering underway.
