NCW flags toxic culture at TCS Nashik, POSH compliance zero
The NCW's 50-page fact-finding report on TCS Nashik finds a toxic workplace, zero POSH compliance, and widespread harassment, urging reforms.
The National Commission for Women released a 50-page fact-finding report on the Tata Consultancy Services Nashik campus, accusing the company of a toxic work culture and zero POSH compliance. The report, submitted to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on May 8, details pervasive sexual harassment and abuse of authority, with victims unable to file complaints due to the absence of a formal mechanism and an atmosphere that stifled trust.
Nine FIRs have been registered in cases including rape, sexual harassment, and forcible conversions at TCS Nashik, with police arresting nine accused. The panel, which took suo motu cognisance of the matter, visited Nashik on April 18 and 19, 2026, interacting with victims, POSH Internal Committee members of TCS, police officers, and other witnesses. It prepared a detailed report based on those engagements and documented evidence.
Key observations describe “a deeply disturbing and toxic workplace environment marked by pervasive sexual harassment and abuse of authority at the workplace.” The accused are said to have “assumed effective control of TCS, Nashik,” using their position to target young and vulnerable women and harass them sexually, emotionally, and mentally. The complainants indeed faced harassment and attempts of molestation, the report notes. It also highlights Gen Z employees as especially susceptible to anti-religious discourse.
The report names individuals Danish, Tausif, and Raza Memon as having “assumed effective control” of the Nashik facility, allegedly protected by HR head Ashwini Chainani. NCW said the committee prepared a detailed record of testimonies and evidence, underscoring the need for strong internal controls and accountability.
In total, 25 recommendations were put forward to address the failures, with the NCW urging reforms and accountability across the company and at the policy level. The findings cast a harsh light on corporate governance and the effectiveness of POSH mechanisms, prompting calls for urgent action to protect employees and restore trust in the workplace.
