Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan addressed a press conference in Thrissur on Friday, March 27, 2026, and vehemently rejected Leader of the Opposition V. D. Satheesan's charge that the CPI(M) had colluded with the RSS, calling it 'utter nonsense' and accusing the Congress of 'a history of opportunistic alliances.' He noted that the RSS has targeted him since the early days of his political life and dismissed the baseless claims as politically motivated.
He alleged that the Congress has repeatedly tied up with communal forces for electoral gains, and cited a former Congress state president from Kannur who reportedly admitted to extending protection for the RSS branch from the Marxists. He questioned whom the Congress and RSS had aligned with to defeat E. M. S. Namboodiripad in Pattambi, saying, 'Isn’t that a matter of history?'
Vijayan pointed to the Palakkad election when A. K. Gopalan contested, claiming that the Congress and the RSS backed a common candidate who was an RSS district functionary. He challenged Satheesan to explain such deals and asked how those who engaged in such 'shameful practices' could level charges against the Left, which has consistently taken a strong stand against communalism and fascism. He concluded, "Let me repeat what I often say — we do not indulge in political opportunism for a handful of votes or a few seats," framing the election as a test of credibility for the LDF's welfare-centric record.
