Great news for 35 crore EPF subscribers! EPFO has credited 8.25% interest for FY26. Learn how to check your balance and what to expect. #EPFO #PFInterest
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has begun crediting the 8.25% annual interest for the financial year 2025-26 to around 35 crore provident fund accounts. This much-awaited update means that members can expect to see their updated balances reflecting in their accounts starting from July 15. This year's credit is particularly notable as it's one of the first major member-facing services delivered after EPFO's migration to a new centralized digital platform.
For the third consecutive financial year, the EPF interest rate remains steady at 8.25% per annum. While this rate is announced annually, the interest itself is calculated monthly. The effective monthly interest works out to approximately 0.688% (8.25% divided by 12). This monthly calculation is based on the closing balance of the previous month.
It's important to understand that although interest accrues monthly, it is credited as a lump sum once a year after the financial year concludes. New contributions made by members begin to earn interest from the following month. For those wondering about contributions to the Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS), it's worth noting that no interest is paid on EPS contributions.
Members eager to verify if their interest has been credited can do so through several convenient digital platforms. These include the EPFO website, the UMANG app, and by sending an SMS or giving a missed call to designated numbers. Checking your balance regularly ensures you stay informed about your provident fund growth.
