Rajnath Singh lauds Operation Sindoor as civil-military fusion in Mussoorie

Defence minister Rajnath Singh described Operation Sindoor as a remarkable example of civil–military fusion, where the administrative machinery worked hand in glove with the Armed Forces to share vital information and build public confidence. He delivered the remarks at the valedictory ceremony of the 100th Common Foundation Course at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie.

He urged young civil servants to understand their vital role in protecting national interests and to stay prepared for critical situations, just as soldiers do. He recalled that during Operation Sindoor the Armed Forces destroyed terror camps in Pakistan and PoK in a balanced, non-escalatory fashion, and pointed out that misbehavior by the neighboring country prevented a full return to normal along the border.

Singh highlighted the importance of stronger coordination between governance and national security for India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. He noted progress since 2014, when India was the world’s 11th-largest economy, and cited optimistic assessments from financial firms that India could become the third-largest economy in the next couple of years.

Further, he reminded officers that civil servants are servants of the people, not platonic guardians, and urged them to embody integrity and daily honesty. He encouraged innovation in a technology-driven era and asked officers to create a culture where honesty is the norm rather than the exception, while continuing to empower citizens.

Today’s address at LBSNAA underscores a vision where governance and security advance together, bridging military action with administrative prudence to safeguard national interests and public trust.
