Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh – A four-year-old girl from Kasganj district has tragically become the victim of a heinous crime, allegedly kidnapped, raped, and murdered as an act of revenge linked to a past panchayat election rivalry. The horrific incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with authorities now actively pursuing justice.
The young victim went missing from her village on June 6. Her distraught father, who works in Faridabad, Haryana, had lodged a missing person complaint after his daughter, who had come to the village with her mother and siblings to visit her ailing grandfather, disappeared shortly after stepping outside their home. Tragically, her body was discovered on a secluded stretch of the village three days later.
Police investigations quickly uncovered a chilling motive behind the brutal act. A 45-year-old man, the primary suspect, allegedly harbored deep animosity towards the child's family due to an electoral rivalry that originated during the 2021 gram pradhan polls. He reportedly conspired with a co-accused to commit the crime to "teach the family a lesson."
On Sunday, the co-accused, who also belongs to the victim's village, was arrested and reportedly confessed to his involvement during questioning. However, the main accused remains on the run, with police teams actively working to apprehend him. The post-mortem report confirmed the extent of the brutality, leading to severe charges being added to the initial FIR.
The case has been registered under stringent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 103(1) for murder, 238 for causing the disappearance of evidence, 65(2) for rape of a woman under 12 years of age, 66 for causing death or a persistent vegetative state to the victim, and 61(2) for criminal conspiracy. Additionally, relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have been invoked, highlighting the severe nature of the crime against a minor.
