Actress Lucy Davis, best known for her role as Dawn Tinsley in the hit BBC series "The Office" and Dianne in "Shaun of the Dead," recently made her first public appearance since revealing her diagnosis of incurable stage four breast cancer. The 53-year-old star attended the "For The Love of Fantasy & Sci-Fi" convention at Excel London on Saturday, where she shared a heartfelt message of gratitude for the overwhelming public support. Davis had announced on August 11 that her cancer had metastasised to her bones, a diagnosis she received approximately a year and a half ago.
During a headline panel discussing "Shaun of the Dead" alongside the film's director, Edgar Wright, and co-star Simon Pegg, Davis addressed hundreds in the audience. She remarked, "It's like this whole second family you never knew you had, everyone is like a community, friendly, supportive of not only us but you guys and each other. We need a bit more niceness in the world, so I’m grateful.” Prior to the panel, Davis engaged with fans, signing autographs and posing for photographs, experiencing firsthand the community spirit she spoke of.
While her health was not directly broached during the 30-minute appearance, for which she required assistance getting on and off stage, her presence alone was a powerful testament to her resilience and appreciation for her fanbase. Daughter of comedian Jasper Carrott, Davis's message resonated deeply, underscoring the profound impact of collective kindness during challenging times.
