26 Nominations Rejected, 37 Accepted in Nagapattinam After Scrutiny
Election authorities complete scrutiny in Nagapattinam, 26 nominations rejected, 37 accepted, including independents and party candidates in Vedaranyam.
The scrutiny of nominations for the Nagapattinam Assembly constituencies was completed on Tuesday, with 26 of the 63 nominations rejected by election authorities. In Vedaranyam constituency, 13 nominations were accepted, including eight independents. Among recognised political parties, nominations of T. Karthik (Naam Tamilar Katchi), N. Pugazhendi (DMK) and O.S. Manian (AIADMK) were accepted. Among registered unrecognised political parties, A. Kingsley Gerald (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam) and M. Lingeshwaran (All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam) were in the fray. The scrutiny process is a routine step ahead of the election, setting the stage for the official candidate list as campaigning heats up and voters prepare to head to the polls.
