At the center of the probe is Twisha’s mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, a retired judge. The Madhya Pradesh police have now issued a third and final notice to her to record her statement. Legal proceedings are also heating up. Twisha’s family lawyer, Ankur Pandey, has challenged the anticipatory bail granted to Giribala Singh in the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The challenge is based on the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023, which presumes the accused caused a dowry death if a woman dies unnaturally within seven years of marriage and there’s evidence of cruelty.
