Young pacer Gurnoor Brar has made a compelling case for a spot in India's upcoming Test squad for Sri Lanka, delivering a sensational 10-wicket match haul that powered India-A to a resounding 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka-A. This dominant performance not only secured the two-match series 1-0 for the Dhruv Jurel-led side but also put Brar firmly in the spotlight for a potential Test debut next month.

Trailing by a significant 177 runs after the first innings, Sri Lanka-A faced a formidable challenge. However, it was Gurnoor Brar who truly dismantled their batting lineup in the second innings, claiming an impressive six for 68. Apart from a defiant 87 runs off 86 balls from Ashen Bandara, no other Sri Lanka-A batter could stand firm against Brar's fiery spell, leading to their collapse for just 209 runs in 48.3 overs.

With a mere 33 runs needed for victory, India-A's opening duo of B. Sai Sudharsan and Aman Mokhade swiftly chased down the target in just 6.2 overs, ensuring a comprehensive win. Earlier in the match, India-A had posted a commanding 543/9 declared in their first innings, thanks to a brilliant 168 from Sai Sudharsan, well-supported by half-centuries from Devdutt Padikkal (94), captain Dhruv Jurel (53), and Saransh Jain (70 not out). Sri Lanka-A's bowlers, particularly Nuwantha Thushara (5/159) and Sudeera Weerasinghe (3/102), toiled hard but couldn't prevent India-A from building a huge lead.

Gurnoor Brar's outstanding display overshadowed other contenders, like Auqib Nabi, who is also vying for a spot in the Test team. Brar had already impressed in his debut ODI series against Afghanistan last month and was part of the Test squad previously, though he didn't make the playing XI.
