Artemis II wake-up playlist unveiled: Roan, Bowie, Queen and more
NASA shares the Artemis II crew wake-up playlist featuring Chappell Roan, Queen, David Bowie, Glass Animals and other artists as astronauts circle the Moon.
NASA has shared the official wake-up songs for the Artemis II crew, a 10-day lunar mission that began on April 1 with four astronauts aboard. The playlist threads together pop stars and classic rock to accompany moments of lift-off and orbital maneuvers around the Moon, featuring Chappell Roan, Queen, David Bowie, Glass Animals and more.
The opening track is Sleepyhead by Young & Sick, followed by John Legend and Andre 3000’s Green Light. Before Pink Pony Club, the crew also listens to In A Daydream by Freddy Jones Band, and the mix includes CeeLo Green’s Working Class Heroes, Mandisa’s Good Morning, plus Tokyo Drifting by Glass Animals and Denzel Curry, and the iconic Queen and David Bowie collaboration Under Pressure.
“You asked for it. Here it is. The official Artemis II wake‑up song playlist,” NASA wrote on Instagram, noting that each track was chosen by the Moon crew, continuing a tradition that began more than 50 years ago. Stay tuned as the mission progresses and more songs may be added.
Artists behind the playlist have shared their gratitude. Young & Sick thanked the crew in the comments, Glass Animals echoed that sentiment, and Denzel Curry wrote a playful note about infinity and beyond. The Moon mission still has days remaining, with the wake-up playlist likely to evolve as crews explore parts of the Moon never seen before.
