Meerut Blue Drum Murder: Suspect Muskan Delivers Baby in Jail

Muskan Rastogi, jailed for the murder of her husband Saurabh Rajput and accused of hiding his body in a blue drum, delivered a baby girl at Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College and Hospital in Meerut. The newborn weighed 2.4 kg and doctors said the delivery was normal. Both mother and child are healthy, and her family has been informed, though no one from the family visited the hospital.

The case dates back to the night of March 4, when Saurabh Rajput was killed at his Indiranagar home in Meerut district. Muskan and her alleged lover Sahil Shukla are accused of drugging him and stabbing him to death. Muskan was arrested on March 18. In the wake of the birth, police deployment around the hospital has been increased, and officers say medical records are being compiled under special instructions to ensure security and privacy.

Officials said Muskan was brought to the Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College around 11:30 pm on Sunday, November 23, 2025, after her labor pains intensified. The baby was delivered on Monday evening. The hospital administration reports that both mother and child remain stable, with continued monitoring and heightened security around the main entrance and wards due to the sensitivity of the matter.

The incident has drawn significant attention in the region. Authorities emphasize careful handling of medical records and privacy for the newborn while the investigation continues and justice is sought for the victim.
