Ranveer Singh Faces Don 3 Ban Controversy While Chilling in Budapest
Bollywood star Ranveer Singh is under fire from FWICE for exiting Don 3, but he’s staying calm in Budapest. Get the latest on the ban and industry support here!
Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh has found himself at the center of a major industry storm following his sudden exit from Farhan Akhtar’s highly anticipated film, Don 3. The actor reportedly walked away from the project just days before the cameras were set to roll, leading to a significant fallout with the production banner, Excel Entertainment. The production house has claimed financial losses totaling a staggering ₹45 crore due to the last-minute withdrawal.
In response to the situation, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has stepped in, issuing a non-cooperation directive against the actor. This move has sparked a heated debate within the film industry regarding the power dynamics between individual stars and regulatory bodies. While the ban aims to hold actors accountable for contractual commitments, several prominent figures have come forward to defend Singh.
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma did not hold back in his criticism of the FWICE's decision. Varma labeled the federation a "kangaroo court," arguing that the industry relies on stars like Ranveer Singh to generate employment and maintain its existence. He emphasized that the federation's authority should not override the creative and professional choices of top-tier talent. Similarly, veteran actress and Actors' Body Vice-President Padmini Kolhapure expressed solidarity, stating that the association stands by Ranveer during this turbulent time.
Despite the mounting controversy back home, Ranveer Singh appears to be keeping his spirits high. The actor was recently spotted in Budapest, where he shared a photo on Instagram posing with Arsenal football star Declan Rice. Captioned “About last night” and set to the nostalgic tune of “Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahan,” the post suggests the actor is focusing on his personal time and international connections.
Fans who encountered him in Budapest have also been sharing their experiences, praising the star for his humility and warmth. One fan recounted a chance meeting at a coffee shop, describing Singh as a "real Dhurandhar" for his simple and respectful behavior despite his massive stardom. While the Don 3 row continues to unfold in Mumbai, Ranveer seems intent on maintaining his public composure abroad.
