15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi earns a spot in India A's white-ball squad for a Sri Lanka tri-series, led by Tilak Varma.
Sooryavanshi has been included in the India A squad for their upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. The 15-year-old prodigy is part of the white-ball squad that will face Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A in a One-Day tri-series from June 9 to June 21. Tilak Varma will lead the side, which will compete in two matches apiece during the round-robin phase. The white-ball games are set for Dambulla, with the multi-day fixtures to be played in Galle.
Riyan Parag is named as vice captain, while Prabhsimran Singh and Kumar Kushagra have been included as wicketkeeping options. Sooryavanshi first made headlines at the IPL auction before the 2025 season, when Rajasthan Royals picked him at age 13. He then blasted 101 off 38 balls against Gujarat Titans, becoming the youngest centurion in men’s T20 history, and later starred in India’s U19 World Cup title run with a 175 off 80 in the final against England. In the IPL, he has continued to shine, tallying 440 runs from 11 innings at a strike rate around 236 and an average near 40.
Selectors are also weighing a potential big break for the teen in the white-ball series ahead of any longer-format call-ups, with a separate squad for the multi-day format to be announced later. If selected, Sooryavanshi could become the youngest Indian to represent the country at senior level, underscoring a rapid rise in India’s next generation of cricketers.
