Bihar Exit Polls Hint NDA Still Ahead as Campaigns Brace for Results
Exit polls project NDA to form government again in Bihar after the second phase ends, while Mahagathbandhan leaders claim voters will teach the ruling party a lesson.
After the second phase of voting in Bihar concluded, exit polls suggested the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is poised to form the government again in the 243-member Assembly. In response, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate voiced strong optimism for Mahagathbandhan, saying the people will "teach a lesson" to the ruling NDA for allegedly manipulating voting rights, and expressing confidence that the coalition will form the government. She added that she would wait for official results before commenting further on the exit polls. Meanwhile, SP MP Awadesh Prasad rejected the polls, arguing that the public has decided to remove the BJP government and predicting at least 175 seats for his bloc.
The exit polls came in as Bihar wrapped up the voting in the second phase, following a high turnout across the state. Polls from different firms offered varying seat projections but generally pointed to NDA staying ahead or gaining in strength, while the opposition asserted the public’s desire for change. The survey results arrive as voters completed a long, multi-phase election process that drew considerable attention from national and regional watchers alike.
Two major pollsters released seat estimates: People’s Pulse projected NDA at 133–159 seats, Mahagathbandhan at 75–101, Jan Suraaj at 0–5, with others likely to win 2–8 seats. People’s Insight offered NDA at 133–148, Mahagathbandhan at 87–102, and Jan Suraaj at 0–2. These figures, like most exit polls, are not final and rely on sampling, with the official results due later. Bihar’s polling drew renewed attention to how exit polls have fared in the past and how accurately they reflect the eventual outcome.
