IAF Joins Heroic Arunachal Flood Rescue Amid Challenging Conditions

Flash floods have severely impacted the Keyi Panyor district of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly in the Poosa area, prompting an immediate and coordinated response from state authorities and central forces. The Arunachal Pradesh government swiftly activated emergency air support, working closely with the Indian Air Force (IAF) to launch crucial rescue and relief operations.
The Department of Civil Aviation was put on high alert following reports of the flash floods and immediately began coordinating with the Eastern Air Command (EAC) in Shillong. This coordination facilitated the rapid deployment of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel and essential equipment to the affected zones. The IAF responded by launching an air support mission, airlifting SDRF teams and relief materials from the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) to Pitapool in Keyi Panyor district.
Despite facing challenging weather conditions, the IAF team, guided by Colonel R. Malhotra of the Ministry of Defence and Group Captain Mukesh Chauhan of the Eastern Air Command, successfully reached Hollongi and proceeded to Pitapool. Their efforts ensured that the SDRF team and vital rescue supplies were transported to where they were most needed, bolstering ongoing relief activities on the ground.
Authorities have confirmed that additional air support operations are being planned to meet future requirements as rescue and relief efforts continue in the district. The primary focus remains on evacuating affected individuals, providing aid, and working towards the recovery of victims. Efforts are also underway to facilitate the handover of victims' bodies to their families, highlighting the somber reality of the disaster as the state and military continue their valiant response to the natural calamity.
