Reliance crosses $10B in annual profit, first Indian firm to hit this milestone
Reliance Industries posts a record FY26 net profit of Rs 95,610 crore, crossing $10 billion for the first time, driven by Jio and Reliance Retail despite O2C headwinds.
Reliance Industries posted a historic net profit of Rs 95,610 crore for FY26, becoming the first Indian company to cross the $10 billion annual profit mark (about $10.15 billion). The result marks an 18% year-on-year rise in profit after tax, underscoring the strength of its consumer businesses even as the oil-to-chemicals segment faced headwinds.
For the full year, consolidated gross revenue rose 9.8% to a record Rs 11,75,919 crore, with earnings supported by a sharp uptick in Jio Platforms and Reliance Retail, which crossed 20,000 stores.
However, the quarter ended March 31, 2026, showed a different picture. Consolidated net profit attributable to owners of the company came in at Rs 16,971 crore for Q4FY26, down from Rs 19,407 crore in the same quarter a year earlier, as weakness in the oil-to-chemicals segment and higher costs weighed on the bottom line.
Q4 revenue rose 13% year-on-year to Rs 3,25,290 crore, while full-year gross revenue touched a new high of Rs 11,75,919 crore. The full-year EBITDA was a record Rs 2,07,911 crore, up 13.4% from the previous year, reflecting a mix of stronger consumer demand and cost controls across segments.
Investor attention remains on the conglomerate's ability to sustain growth in its consumer-facing arms, with Reliance Retail expanding to more than 20,000 stores and Jio driving scalable digital services. Despite a 15% correction in 2026 so far, the group’s market capitalization stands above Rs 18 lakh crore, reflecting confidence in its long-term growth trajectory.
Industry observers note that while the O2C (oil-to-chemicals) business faced pressure, the resilience in value-added segments and the scale of retail and telecom platforms provide a cushion for margins. The results position Reliance as a bellwether for India's corporate earnings season, illustrating how diversified business lines can offset sector-specific headwinds.
