Speeding Thar Crashes Into Police Patrol Near Patna CM's Residence
A high-speed SUV rammed a police patrol near Nitish Kumar's Patna residence, injuring a female officer as four occupants are detained for questioning.
PATNA: A major incident was averted in Patna's high-security VVIP area when an over-speeding SUV collided with a police patrol vehicle near the BP Mandal roundabout, close to chief minister Nitish Kumar's residence. The Thar rammed into a moving patrol vehicle belonging to the Shakti Suraksha Dal — a special unit formed under Patna Police to protect women, students and young girls in the city. The impact damaged both vehicles, and the Thar smashed through the guardrail before coming to a halt. Quick-response personnel at the spot helped contain the situation, and the Gandhi Maidan Traffic Police team reached the scene. DSP (Traffic-3) Ajit Kumar noted that the front portions of both vehicles were damaged, a female police officer was injured, and the Thar driver along with the other occupants were taken to the police station. Four individuals were detained for questioning as authorities probe speeding and possible negligence behind the crash. Officials said an FIR will be filed based on the driver’s statement, with further action to be taken at the Gandhi Maidan Traffic Police Station. Kumar emphasized that action is taken against over-speeding and negligent conduct, especially in VIP zones.
