Smriti Mandhana's 87 and Georgia Voll's 79 power RCB to a record chase, sealing their second WPL trophy in Vadodara and matching MI's title tally.
In Vadodara, Royal Challengers Bengaluru pulled off a remarkable record chase to seal their second Women’s Premier League title, beating Delhi Capitals by six wickets with two balls to spare. Mandhana, the captain, smashed 87 off 41 balls while Georgia Voll blazed 79 off 54 as the pair stitched a blistering 165-run partnership for the second wicket, turning the final on its head after DC posted 203/4.
Delhi Capitals had earlier posted 203 for four, with skipper Jemimah Rodrigues top-scoring with 57 off 37 balls, anchoring the innings after a brisk start from Shafali Verma and Lizelle Lee. Chinelle Henry contributed a breezy 35 off 15 balls, and Laura Wolvaardt remained unbeaten on 44 off 25, with Lee adding 37 off 30. Shafali Verma’s early push gave DC momentum before they were pegged back by the RCB bowling unit.
RCB began strongly with Lauren Bell and Sayali Satghare restricting Delhi to nine runs in the first three overs. A telling over in the middle overs saw Lee strike Satghare for two sixes, a moment that swung the mood in the stadium. There was also a stumping appeal that Richa Ghosh nearly completed, underscoring the sharp work behind the stumps as DC looked to push the tempo. Arundhati Reddy later dismissed Shafali Verma, further tightening the pressure on DC.
Mandhana and Voll then took charge, calmly building the chase and accelerating as the target came into view. Their 165-run stand for the second wicket dismantled DC’s plans, and the chase was completed with two balls to spare. With this win, RCB drew level with Mumbai Indians as the most successful teams in the WPL, marking a defining moment in the league’s young history.
