MEA Opens 24/7 Control Room to Help Indians in West Asia Crisis

The Ministry of External Affairs has set up a dedicated control room to assist Indians affected by the escalating crisis in West Asia and the Gulf region. The MEA has said that almost one crore Indian citizens live in the Gulf and their safety and well-being is of utmost priority for New Delhi. We cannot be impervious to any development that negatively affects them, the MEA added, as it commits to closely monitoring the evolving situation and coordinating with regional governments and other key partners.

This follows developments where, amid a widening Iran-U.S. confrontation, neighbouring embassies and missions reported heightened concerns and safety advisories. The Indian embassy in Tehran has already moved hundreds of Indian students from the Iranian capital to safer locations, underscoring the urgent need for on-the-ground coordination and timely information for citizens abroad.

In its outreach, New Delhi said it would maintain touch with governments in the region as well as other partners to ensure safety, mobility options, and relevant decisions in the national interest. The MEA’s proactive stance reflects a broader effort to streamline assistance, visa relief measures if needed, and real-time updates for those affected in West Asia.
