The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, responsible for the grand Ayodhya Ram Temple, has initiated a significant overhaul in its management structure by inviting applications for its first Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This pivotal decision comes in the wake of a burgeoning controversy surrounding alleged donation theft, casting a shadow over the temple's financial operations.
The move to appoint a CEO is a direct response to recent allegations of misappropriation of funds, reportedly amounting to around Rs 3 crore. These claims surfaced after cash-counting agents were accused of siphoning off donations. The temple's treasurer, Swami Govind Dev Giri, has vehemently denied reports of his resignation, clarifying that he remains committed to his role. He also acknowledged the likely extent of the theft, stating it to be around Rs 3 crore. Meanwhile, Champat Rai, another key figure, reportedly resigned voluntarily after recognizing negligence on his part regarding the matter.
The issue has garnered legal attention, with an Ayodhya court extending the judicial custody of eight individuals accused in connection with the theft. Furthermore, the Supreme Court has also issued notices concerning the alleged financial irregularities, indicating the gravity of the situation.
The trust is now actively seeking a highly qualified professional to lead its administrative functions. The ideal candidate for the CEO position must be a "practising Hindu" and a "Ram bhakt" (devotee of Lord Ram), possessing extensive managerial experience. This role is designed to enhance the overall management of the Ayodhya Ram Temple's daily operations. The new CEO will report directly to the trust's general secretary, overseeing the temple's day-to-day functions and ensuring transparency and efficiency in its administration.
