eBooks or Print: Which One Wins in 2025?
eBooks or Print: Which One Wins in 2025?
A thoughtful look at the print vs. digital shift in 2025, exploring what each format delivers to readers, how it fits into everyday life, and whether the timeless love of books endures in a screen-driven world.
Books have always been a part of my life. From the smell of fresh pages to the endless swipe on a Kindle screen, I have experienced both worlds. But as we step deeper into 2025, I cannot help but ask, which one truly wins — eBooks or printed books?
This is not a fight between technology and tradition. It feels more like two different ways of feeling the same emotion, the love for reading. Each has its own charm, and as someone who grew up surrounded by both printed books and digital screens, I have seen how reading has changed over time.

The Digital Shift: Why eBooks Feel Like the Future
eBooks have made reading unbelievably convenient. I can carry an entire library in my backpack, or even in my pocket. Whether I am stuck in traffic, waiting for a meeting, or lying awake at 2 AM, my phone or Kindle is right there, glowing softly, waiting for me to read.
I remember my brother once told me,
“Sister, I finished an entire novel on the train from Kolkata to Digha, no bag, no weight, just my phone.”

I laughed at first, but he was right. That is the beauty of eBooks. They make reading simple, accessible, and travel-friendly. eBooks also help in ways we rarely think about. They are cheaper than printed books. They save paper. They are easy to search, highlight, and bookmark. In a world that is going digital in almost everything, eBooks fit right in.
There is another side to it, too. Many eBooks have adjustable fonts, background lighting, and even audio options for those who cannot read physically. That is powerful. It means no one has to give up reading just because they cannot hold a book or see small print. But even as I appreciate eBooks, something in me still feels a little disconnected at times.
The Magic of Print: Why Paper Still Wins Hearts
You see, printed books are not just about reading. They are about feeling. There is something magical about opening a new book: the crisp sound, the smell of paper, the touch of pages. My father always says, “
A printed book is not read, it is lived.”
I could not agree more. Every fold, every underline, every stain of spilled tea becomes part of your story as a reader. My earliest memories are filled with bookshelves at home.

I remember sitting beside my father while he read the newspaper and flipped through pages of his favorite novels. He used to tell me,
“Screens will come and go, but the charm of holding a book will never fade.”
Even now, when I sit down with a printed book, it feels personal. I disconnect from notifications, from constant buzzing screens, from the rush of the world. It is just me and the story. Also, let us not forget how beautiful printed books look. A room filled with books feels alive. It tells a story about who we are, what we have loved, and what we have learned. You cannot get that same warmth from a Kindle file, no matter how many titles you own.
Why Both Can Co-exist
We do not need to pick sides. The beauty of our time is that we have choices. You can start your day reading a self-help eBook on your phone and end the night flipping through a novel under a warm lamp. The world is not about one replacing the other. It is about both formats creating harmony, the printed book feeding your soul, and the eBook feeding your convenience.

Reading has evolved, but its purpose has not changed. Whether you are holding a paperback or scrolling through an ePub file, the feeling of losing yourself in a story remains the same. So, why don't we say like this, the real winner is the love for reading itself.
Keep reading and keep yourself lost in the fantasy world....HAPPY READING...
