Heroic Rival Saves British Driver from Fiery Crash in China!

A terrifying moment on the racetrack turned into a tale of incredible heroism this past Saturday in Shanghai, as British driver Ollie Millroy was dramatically rescued from a burning Ferrari by his rival, Dutch racer Loek Hartog. Millroy, who sustained serious injuries including six broken ribs and a partially collapsed lung, credits Hartog entirely for saving his life after a multi-car pile-up during the China GT Championship race.

Hartog, witnessing the fiery wreckage and the immediate lack of official response, bravely abandoned his own race.

He rushed to Millroy's aid, grabbing a fire extinguisher from a nearby official and dousing the flames before pulling the injured Briton from the burning car.

Millroy later expressed his profound gratitude on Instagram, stating he would tell his children about Hartog's "incredible act of bravery" and that Hartog would be their "biggest superhero." The incident has, however, cast a shadow on the race organizers. Millroy's AAI Motorsport team issued a strong statement criticizing the handling of the incident, noting "no timely and effective firefighting and rescue operations were seen" and that the car burned for over a minute before intervention.

The team announced it would "no longer participate in any races organised by China GT," highlighting concerns about safety standards.

While acknowledging the inherent dangers of motorsports, the team emphasized that the lack of immediate response for a driver in distress is unacceptable.
