OpenAI Lands $110B Funding Round, Ties Up With Amazon and Nvidia
OpenAI locks in $110B at a $730B valuation, forming deep partnerships with Amazon and Nvidia to scale AI infrastructure.
OpenAI has announced a massive funding round, securing $110 billion at a $730 billion pre-money valuation as demand for artificial intelligence surges across consumers, developers, and businesses. The round brings in major commitments from SoftBank and Nvidia, each contributing $30 billion, with Amazon putting in $50 billion. Additional financial investors are expected to join the round, underscoring strong confidence in OpenAI’s growth trajectory.
The company also unveiled a multi-year strategic partnership with Amazon and expanded its long-standing collaboration with Nvidia to secure next-generation computing infrastructure. The Nvidia side of the deal includes 3GW of dedicated inference capacity and 2GW of training on Vera Rubin systems, augmenting existing deployments on Hopper and Blackwell systems. These arrangements are designed to broaden OpenAI’s global reach, deepen its infrastructure, and strengthen its balance sheet so it can bring frontier AI to more people, businesses, and communities worldwide.
CEO Sam Altman described the partnerships as part of a broader push to scale AI from research into widespread daily use. “We’re pushing the frontier across infrastructure, research, and products to make AI more capable, reliable, and broadly useful,” Altman said. He noted that SoftBank, NVIDIA, and Amazon are long-term partners who share the ambition to turn real scientific progress into systems that deliver meaningful benefits at global scale.
OpenAI highlighted rapid adoption of its products across consumer and enterprise segments. ChatGPT, in particular, has grown to more than 900 million weekly active users and more than 50 million consumer subscribers, signaling a broad and expanding user base that the company aims to serve with increased compute, distribution, and capital capacity. The funding round and partnerships position OpenAI to accelerate development while expanding access to its tools and services around the world.
