IndiGo Flights Stabilize as Disruptions Subside and Payouts Loom

IndiGo is back to normal as its network stabilises after a week of disruptions. For the second consecutive day, the airline said it would operate over 2,050 flights on Saturday, December 13, with only two cancellations and all 138 operational destinations connected under its revised schedule aligned with government directives. The carrier also noted that most refunds for affected customers have been issued, and an expanded compensation plan is being prepared for those most severely stranded, with updates expected in January.

IndiGo also disclosed a penalty of nearly ₹59 crore that it intends to contest. The airline stressed that the penalty would not derail its broader push to restore normal service levels and maintain on-time performance across its network.

On the regulatory front, the DGCA suspended four flight operations inspectors, a move aimed at addressing gaps highlighted during the scheduling meltdown. The regulator’s action comes as part of ongoing efforts to tighten oversight, while IndiGo reiterates its commitment to safety and reliability as it works to restore traveler confidence.

IndiGo’s latest update notes that the majority of refunds are already processed, with the airline planning to reach out to more affected passengers in January. The current trajectory shows fewer disruptions and a rebuilt schedule, signaling a return to normal operations even as customers monitor for sustained improvement.
