Prince's estate has just unveiled "Timeless," a highly anticipated compilation album featuring ten rare and previously unreleased recordings. This posthumous collection spans an incredible period, from 1977 right up to 2016, offering fans an unprecedented look into the legendary artist's vast creative output.
The album is making waves with "The Guilty Ones," a track from 2007, leading the charge as a single, complete with a new music video. This track, like "Bestest Friend" (recorded in 2012), was laid down at Paisley Park, Prince's iconic estate in Minnesota, which has since become a museum. The compilation's unique sequencing was intentionally designed to showcase Prince's incredible range and evolution as an artist.
Charles F. Spicer Jr., co-owner of Prince Legacy LLC, emphasized the album's scope, stating,
From one of the earliest recordings of his career to one of his final live tour performances, these ten songs reveal Prince as an artist who was always fearless, innovative and creative on his own terms.
He added that closing the album with a live tour performance was particularly meaningful, capturing the deep connection Prince shared with his audience.
The tracks on "Timeless" were mixed and mastered by Chris James, a former Prince engineer known for his work on "HITnRUN Phase Two" and "Art Official Age." James also played a role in producing the album, alongside L. Londell McMillan and Spicer. The project was initially announced during Prince Celebration 2026 at Paisley Park and arrives in the tenth anniversary year of Prince's passing.
This release comes at a time of renewed interest in his catalog, especially with the "Purple Rain" Broadway adaptation set to debut in March 2027.
The full tracklisting for "Timeless" includes: "I Am You," "Tick Tick Bang," "Heaven," "I Wonder," "With This Tear," "Stone," "Calabama," "The Guilty Ones," "Bestest Friend," and "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore? (Live)." This collection promises to be a treasure trove for both longtime devotees and new listeners discovering the genius of Prince.
