The series picks up after the Season 4 Part 2 finale, where Hawkins' crew faced Vecna; Vecna killed Max, triggering the opening of the fourth gate; Eleven revived Max with her powers; Eddie Munson sacrifices himself to distract demobats; Vecna escapes; Hawkins is left scarred as the barrier between the real world and the Upside Down is torn. The next chapter will reunite the core group for a final mission to kill Vecna.
