Bonnie Tyler's Final Journey: Fans Line Mumbles Streets for Farewell

Fans of the iconic Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler, whose powerful voice gave us hits like 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart,' are expected to line the streets of Mumbles this Saturday to pay their final respects. The procession will see her coffin transported to her former home ahead of her funeral on Monday.

The beloved musician, whose real name was Gaynor Hopkins, sadly passed away on July 8 at the age of 75 in a hospital in Portugal. Her passing comes months after she had been treated in intensive care, following an induced coma after emergency intestinal surgery.

On Saturday, well-wishers are invited to gather along Newton Road, Mumbles, to witness the cortege. The hearse is scheduled to depart from William Pressdee Funeralcare in Mumbles at approximately 3:15 pm, making its way along Newton Road before continuing onto Mumbles Road. To facilitate this solemn event, Newton Road will be temporarily closed from its junction with Mumbles Road (near the White Rose) to Langland Road (near Oystermouth School) starting around 3 pm. Buses will be allowed through if safe, and the road will reopen promptly after the procession.

A celebration of Bonnie Tyler's remarkable life will be held at Swansea Minster (St Mary’s Church) on Monday at noon. The family has kindly requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to two charities close to Tyler's heart, both of which she served as patron: Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales and Cerebral Palsy Cymru. This public farewell offers a chance for fans to collectively mourn and celebrate the enduring legacy of a true music legend.
