Gypsy Rose Blanchard Breaks Silence on Fiancé Ken Urker's Tragic Death
Gypsy Rose Blanchard reveals her fiancé, Ken Urker, died from an apparent overdose, attributing his struggles to intense online harassment. A heartbreaking story.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard has broken her silence following the tragic death of her fiancé and the father of her child, Ken Urker. Urker passed away on Thursday, his 34th birthday, a profound loss for Blanchard and their family.
Blanchard, 35, confirmed Urker’s death in a statement to TMZ, expressing her deep grief: “Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved.” She added that he
will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office in Louisiana confirmed they found Urker dead at his home after receiving a call at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Investigators discovered him next to “a brown powdery substance,” a syringe, a handgun, and two shot glasses. While a death investigation is ongoing, police stated, “To this point, we have discovered no signs of foul play.”
Speaking to People, Blanchard shared that Urker died from an apparent overdose, though his official cause of death has not yet been determined. “I don’t know if it was intentional or not,” Blanchard told the outlet, noting, “He was not in a good state of mind lately.” She candidly discussed the immense pressure Urker faced due to his relationship with her, revealing he was subjected to “unimaginable level of public scrutiny and relentless cyberbullying across social media platforms, including TikTok and Reddit.”
Blanchard hopes his passing serves as a stark reminder: “I believe the tremendous weight of that scrutiny and harassment had a profound impact on him, and I hope his passing serves as a reminder that there is a real person behind every screen, every headline, and every comment.”
The couple's relationship began when Blanchard was in prison, serving nearly eight years for her role in the death of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. Urker proposed in October 2018, but they later ended their engagement. During their separation, Blanchard married Ryan Anderson, with whom she was when she was released on parole in December 2023.
She announced her split from Anderson four months later and reconciled with Urker in April 2024.
They welcomed their daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, in December 2024.
Blanchard affirmed Urker's love for their child: “Above all, Ken loved our daughter, Aurora.
She is a beautiful reflection of his enduring spirit, and through her, a part of him will always remain with us.
I will make sure she grows up knowing how deeply her father loved her and who he was beyond what strangers on the internet chose to say about him.”
