Dense fog on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway leads to a major multi-vehicle pile-up near Gurgaon, killing four and injuring several as traffic reels from the morning crash.
Dense fog blanketed the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway on Monday morning, dropping visibility to near zero and sparking a chain of crashes. The worst collision unfolded near Raniyala Patakpur village, where more than 15 vehicles, including two trucks, collided in a pile-up. A CISF inspector, Harish Kumar, 38, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar in Alwar, died on the spot, and several others were injured and taken to Mandi Kheda hospital, where their condition was described as stable. Officials said the accident occurred due to extremely low visibility and urged motorists to slow down in fog.
In Banarsi village, seven to eight vehicles collided amid foggy conditions, causing extensive damage but, as reported, no injuries were recorded. A separate incident on the Delhi-Alwar Road near Ghaseda involved a Haryana Roadways bus colliding with a tractor; no casualties were reported, though both vehicles were damaged.
In Faridabad, a Ford Endeavour rammed into a stationary truck on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Kail village, killing two people. Police are investigating the sequence of events, and rescue teams moved quickly to clear wreckage and restore lanes. By late morning, traffic was returning to normal, though the episode underscored the dangers of fog on busy expressways.
Authorities stressed that dense morning fog remains a recurring risk on this corridor and urged drivers to use headlights, maintain safe speeds, and heed official advisories to prevent such tragedies in the future.
