Nearly 150 Fall Ill After Wedding Feast in MP Village, Probe Underway
Scores sick after a village wedding feast in Sehore district; officials deploy tests and medical support as the investigation continues.
Nearly 150 people fell ill after attending a wedding feast in Babadiya-Noabad village under Ichhawar subdivision in Sehore district, prompting a rapid medical response.
Officials said more than 1,000 guests attended the ceremony, and many began reporting diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach ache after the meal.
Doctors at Ichhawar Civil Hospital treated patients on the spot, with three individuals later referred to the District Hospital in Sehore in serious condition, though all are now reported to be out of danger.
Food and water samples from the feast were collected for examination, and the items used at the wedding were destroyed on the spot to prevent further exposure. The district administration deployed additional ambulances and teams of doctors to Ichhawar to manage the situation, while tracing guests who had returned to nearby villages to check for symptoms.
An investigation is underway and will proceed based on lab results, with authorities stressing that containment and treatment remain the priority while the cause is identified.
