British Fugitive Escapes Delhi Airport Immigration, Sparks Manhunt
A British national evaded immigration at Delhi's IGI airport while due to be deported; authorities launched a citywide search and security review.
A security breach at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi unfolded when a British national, who was scheduled to be deported to the United Kingdom via Thailand, allegedly slipped out of the immigration area after arriving from Bangkok. The incident reportedly occurred on October 28, and police disclosed the escape on Friday, November 7, 2025.
Identified as Fitz Patrick, the passenger reportedly left the airport premises before formal processing, prompting Delhi Police and security agencies to launch a coordinated manhunt. An FIR has been filed and investigators are reviewing CCTV footage to determine how the lapse occurred and who may have assisted.
CISF, the agency in charge of airport security, along with the Bureau of Immigration and Delhi Police, said teams have been deployed across the National Capital Region to locate the fugitive and secure exit points. Authorities emphasized that the investigation will examine staff conduct and possible security gaps.
Officials stressed that the deportation plan remains intact, but the incident has raised questions about safeguarding procedures at transit hubs and the handling of deportees. More details are expected as the CCTV review and interviews continue.
