US Strikes ISIS in Syria: 50 Killed or Captured in Two-Week Campaign
US-led airstrikes hit ISIS targets in Syria over two weeks, killing or capturing at least 50 militants and targeting weapons storage and infrastructure.
The U.S. military says it conducted ten airstrikes against more than 30 Islamic State targets in Syria over a two-week span, from February 3 to February 12, 2026. The strikes targeted weapons storage facilities and other infrastructure in an ongoing effort to degrade ISIS capabilities.
Central Command reports that at least 50 ISIS members were killed or captured, and that more than 100 ISIS targets have been struck since the December ambush that killed two U.S. soldiers and a civilian interpreter. The operations come as part of a broader campaign to prevent further attacks and contain the group's activities in the region.
The campaign unfolds amid ongoing regional volatility. Syria’s Kurdish regions have remained unstable, and the Syrian Defence Ministry said government forces took control of a base in the east of the country that had been run for years by U.S. troops as part of the fight against ISIS. In a related move, the U.S. completed the transfer of thousands of ISIS detainees from Syria to Iraq, where they are expected to stand trial, per Baghdad’s request.
Analysts say the strikes signal continued pressure on ISIS but note questions about long-term strategy and civilian risk in fragile border areas. As Washington maintains the coalition effort with regional partners, the campaign’s next phase will likely hinge on troop posture, local governance, and regional diplomacy.
