China's Top Generals Ousted in Massive Graft Crackdown! 🚨

Beijing, China, In a dramatic move that underscores President Xi Jinping's relentless anti-graft campaign, China has expelled two of its most senior military officers from the ruling Communist Party. The announcement, made on Monday, follows months of investigation into "serious violations of the law", a common euphemism for corruption within the Chinese system.

One of the expelled officers, Zhang Youxia, held the prestigious position of the more senior of the two vice chairmen on the Central Military Commission (CMC), effectively making him China's highest-ranked general. The other high-profile figure implicated is Liu Zhenli. Their removal marks a significant tremor within the upper echelons of the People's Liberation Army.

The Defence Ministry had first indicated in January that both Zhang and Liu were under scrutiny. However, state news agency Xinhua has now provided specifics, revealing that their cases involved "exceptionally large sums of money." Investigations found that the two men had "become disloyal to the Party... and crossed red lines" by engaging in a litany of offenses.

These included forming cliques and accepting vast sums of money for personal gain.

Furthermore, they were accused of abusing their authority, using their positions to facilitate "job promotion" for others. The decision to expel them from the Communist Party was made by top officials meeting in Beijing. Their cases have now been transferred to the military's legal organs for further review and prosecution.

This action is set to be ratified at a plenary session of the Party's Central Committee.

This high-profile purge sends a clear message, reinforcing Beijing's stance that there is "absolutely no place for corrupt elements to hide within the military," as reported by Xinhua.

The fall from grace of Zhang Youxia, in particular, has shocked observers, given his immense seniority and the widely held perception of his close ties to President Xi Jinping himself. Both Zhang and Liu were stripped of their positions in the state CMC last month, paving the way for today's definitive party expulsion.
