Tejashwi Yadav Named Leader of Grand Alliance in Bihar Assembly
Tejashwi Yadav is unanimously elected as the leader of the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar's assembly ahead of the five-day session and swearing-in of new members.
At a Patna meeting, Tejashwi Yadav was unanimously elected the leader of the Mahagathbandhan in the Bihar Assembly, taking on a key role as the coalition's leading figure in the 243-member house. He will also serve as the leader of the opposition in the assembly, a designation confirmed by the coalition's representatives ahead of the session.
The five-day session is set to begin on Monday, December 1, during which all newly elected members of the assembly will be sworn in. The decision signals a consolidated leadership for the opposition as it seeks to coordinate its stance on governance issues in the state.
RJD MLA Bhai Virendra stated that Tejashwi Yadav’s selection was unanimous and that he would lead the Mahagathbandhan in the assembly as well as in the party. Congress leader Samir Kumar Singh, who is also a working president of the party’s state unit, noted that the alliance remains intent on voicing its perspectives inside the House and confronting the BJP-led government if election promises are not fulfilled.
The remark comes as the Grand Alliance faced a setback in the elections, with the NDA retaining power by securing more seats. The coalition’s leadership change is expected to influence the dynamics in the assembly as parties prepare for debate and scrutiny of government actions during the forthcoming session.
