Justice for Shanice Brookes: Two Charged in Fatal Sheffield Bar Shooting

Two people have been charged following the tragic shooting of a young mother outside a bar in Sheffield during the bank holiday weekend. Shanice Brookes, 30, was killed in what police are describing as a senseless act of violence involving an innocent bystander.

The incident happened shortly before 3 a.m. on Monday near the One Four One bar on West Street. Detectives believe Shanice was simply caught in the crossfire while out enjoying her evening. She leaves behind a young son and a family now forced to cope with an unimaginable loss.

South Yorkshire Police announced on Friday that Jemele Rhone, 30, has been charged with murder, along with possession of a firearm and criminal property. Another individual, 32-year-old Deiryen Dyce, faces charges of assisting an offender, possession of ammunition, and several drug-related offenses. Both are currently in custody and scheduled to appear before magistrates today.

Earlier in the investigation, another 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder, but he has since been released and is no longer being treated as a suspect. Police have reaffirmed their commitment to getting answers for Shanice's loved ones during this difficult time.

Senior investigating officer DCI Andy Knowles shared the heartbreak of the situation, noting that Shanice should have been able to enjoy a night out in the city without fear. Her family is now grieving the loss of a beloved daughter and mother under the most tragic circumstances.
