Pirated 'The Odyssey' Leaked on X, Viewed Millions of Times!
Christopher Nolan's blockbuster 'The Odyssey' was pirated and shared on Elon Musk's X platform, garnering over 3 million views before removal. Universal Pictures vows action against copyright infringement.
A high-quality, unauthorized version of Christopher Nolan's cinematic hit, "The Odyssey," recently went viral on Elon Musk's X platform, drawing over 3 million views before being taken down. The incident highlights ongoing challenges with content piracy on social media.
The bootleg copy of the acclaimed film circulated extensively over the weekend, with a post drawing attention to its availability quickly racking up millions of views. The account responsible for hosting the pirated content was subsequently suspended by X, formerly Twitter.
"The Odyssey" has been a commercial and critical triumph since its July release, already amassing over $600 million globally. Despite the widespread leak, the film's box office performance appears largely undented, with global takings reaching $640 million and a robust second weekend in the U.S.
Universal Pictures, the film's distributor, issued a strong statement regarding the breach. "We became aware of the unauthorized posting of the film and immediately initiated takedown protocols. We take copyright infringement seriously and will pursue all appropriate remedies to protect our content and intellectual property rights," the studio stated.
Adding an interesting layer to the story, X owner Elon Musk has previously been a vocal critic of "The Odyssey," specifically referencing its casting choices and perceived "DEI culture" via his own platform. The exact method by which this unauthorized, near-three-hour version of the film was obtained and leaked remains undisclosed.
