Céline Dion is back on the road after a lengthy hiatus caused by stiff-person syndrome, a rare autoimmune condition. She will headline a ten-show residency in Paris this September, marking her first major run on stage since the illness forced her to pause the Courage world tour.
In a birthday message posted to fans, the 58-year-old singer said the news is 'the best gift' and that her health is improving enough to perform again. 'This year, I’m getting the best birthday gift of my life. I’m getting the chance to see you, to perform for you once again,' she said.
Stiff-person syndrome is a rare autoimmune disorder with no known cure, though treatment can alleviate symptoms such as stiffness in the torso, arms and legs. Dion had canceled the Courage tour in 2023 because of the condition. A 2024 documentary gave a candid look at her pain, and she later performed from the Eiffel Tower during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games opening ceremony.
