The gathering included chicken and fish served with alcohol, according to those present.

The deceased has been identified as Pandu. He reportedly died in his sleep, with other attendees waking up with stomach pain, vomiting and chest burning. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and food samples have been forwarded to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis, as authorities try to establish the exact cause of death.
In the broader context, Telangana officials indicated that liquor sales around New Year had surged to record levels, prompting calls for tighter controls at private celebrations.
