Delhi Govt Extends Summer Break with Remedial Classes for 9-12

The Delhi government has announced an extended summer vacation for government schools, paired with targeted remedial classes for students in classes 9, 10, and 12. For classes 9 and 10, the focus will be on Science and Mathematics, with school heads free to include other subjects based on academic performance, result analysis, and teacher availability. For class 12, the remedial subjects will be decided by the respective schools according to students’ needs. Remedial schedules will be communicated to parents and students through available channels, and attendance will be marked online. Wearing the school uniform during remedial classes has been made mandatory, and parental consent is required for students to attend. Library facilities will remain open during the vacation for self-study, and drinking water and other basic amenities must be ensured on campus. Guest and contractual teachers may be engaged if regular teachers are unavailable. Regular teachers assigned duties during the summer vacation will be granted earned leave in lieu of the period, as per CCS Leave Rules, while guest teachers will be paid according to existing norms. Deputy Directors of Education at district and zonal levels have been asked to monitor the implementation of the remedial programme and conduct daily visits to at least two schools where the classes are being held. The summer break runs from May 11 to May 23, with special classes organized during this period depending on staff availability and infrastructure.
