India Honors Six Heroes: Names of Operation Sindoor Martyrs Revealed
For the first time, India officially names six brave soldiers martyred in Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory strike after the Pahalgam attack. Their sacrifices are now etched forever at the National War Memorial.
In a historic moment of national remembrance, the Indian government has, for the first time, officially unveiled the names of six military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice during Operation Sindoor. This crucial cross-border military campaign was launched last May to dismantle terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The valiant individuals being honored are Subedar Major Pawan Kumar of Headquarters 10 Infantry Brigade, Rifleman Sunil Kumar (Vir Chakra) of 4 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar of 5 Field Regiment, Aviation Technician Mood Muralinaik of 851 Light Regiment, Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh of 237 Field Workshop Company, and Sergeant Surendra Kumar (Vayu Medal) of 39 Wing. Their identities, previously undisclosed, mark a significant step towards publicly acknowledging their immense courage.
Operation Sindoor was India’s decisive response to the horrific Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 last year, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians, many of whom were tourists. The operation saw Indian armed forces execute precision strikes against terror launchpads, successfully eliminating over 100 terrorists and demonstrating India's unwavering stance against extremism.
These brave soldiers' names have been inscribed on Wall 3D of the National War Memorial in New Delhi, within the section dedicated to military personnel who laid down their lives for the nation. Their names are also published in the Roll of Honour section on the National War Memorial website, providing a permanent tribute and ensuring their legacy is never forgotten.
